"Surrealism" Exhibition
This event has ended.
At Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art
Media: Painting, Art Talk
Surrealism was a cultural movement attempting to address the question of what reality is. After World War I, in the middle of crisis in Europe, the Surrealists had doubts about rationalistic society, and aimed to express the truth of reality beyond what exists right in front of us. Surrealism is driven by a sense of coincidence and the extraordinary, revealing a bizarre world - a revolutionary philosophical exploration of how to set things free from rationalism. This exhibition contains approximately 130 works from Japan and abroad.
