Izumi Kitazawa "Our Everyday"
This event has ended.
At Tea & Gallery Hanakagesho
Media: Crafts, Ceramics
This is an exhibition of 30 ceramic Netsuke (small sculptures originally used as a pins attached around Kimono sash) by Izumi Kitazawa. Inspired by illustrative images from various picture books, she creates tiny sculptures of animals.
There are not so many artists making ceramic Netsuke nowadays, and they are usually made out of ivory and boxwood. Kitazawa explores expressive qualities that are unique to ceramic.
