All kinds of Yokai, spooky monsters from Kappa, Ubume, Bake-neko to unusual ones such as Todomeki (100 Eyes) and Bake-nio, are depicted in Ukiyo-e. These works speak of how imaginative people were back in the days.

The exhibition title "Ayakashi" is a classical word referring to something spooky and mysterious. This exhibition introduces the bizarre world of Yokai in Ukiyo-e, covering monsters and ghosts from Kabuki stories and much more, featuring a total 80 works by Hokusai Katsushika, Hiroshige Utagawa, Toyokuni Utagawa III, and many others.
