This is an exhibition of the homeless of Manhattan, New York. Many of them are children of slaves, drug addicts, alcoholics, the unemployed and elderly, illegal immigrants, children of Native Americans whose land was taken from them, AIDS patients and those with physical disabilities. They are the powerless of American society, often denied social protection or assistance. Instead of being cared for in this advanced nation, they are left on the streets. As he took pictures, it occurred to the photographer that this was the economic battlefield, and these were people excluded and drifting away. There was a visual correlation with the lives of refugees from third world countries and victims of countries invaded by America. The increasing homeless of Japan and internet cafe refugees are a sign of what Japan could become also, if the lessons of U.S. policies are not heeded. 65 black and white photographs are on display.
