Japan Media Arts Festival has been held every year for the past 11 years in order to encourage talent in multimedia.
This year, a record 2,091 submissions from 43 countries around the world were received, in fields of art, entertainment, anime, and manga. This exhibition present 160 awarded works from all of those submitted. There are many works which include a strong message, are innovating, and cross the common borders of genres.

行ってきました！
期間が短いから、絶対行きたいと思っていたのです。

まず、インタラクティブとかインスタレーションとか言われるジャンルの作品が多くて楽しい。
そして、Webやアニメ、マンガといった次世代の日本の文化を垣間見れる！
（しかも文化庁もそれを評価しているんですね・・・。
初めて知ったので驚きました。）

私は時間がなくてばたばたしてしまいましたが、
まだ行っていない方はぜひゆっくり見て回ってください。

A merry gigantic mess. note to self: the many many screenings are worth it, but will take 2~4 hours to watch...
oh, and the booklet they sell ¥1000 at the exit, is bilingual... even if they don't mention so at the stand.

　最終日、すごく混んでました。国立新美術館にしたことで、ほかの展示や建物を観光にきたお客さんも入って盛況になっててよいですね。
　今年は静止画部門の、計算で書いたものがとてもきれいでした。ほかの静止画もぐっとくるものが多かったです。CGという言葉のイメージを超えて、力を持っている感じがしました。
　そして一番気に入ったのは優秀賞の作品「Se Mi Sei Vicino (if you are close to me)」。とにかく「雰囲気を視覚化する」のが面白かったです。
