The artist started having questions and complex feelings about religion when her grandfather passed away three years ago. Thinking that she could find some answers in Thailand, a country that holds Buddhist religion in common with Japan, she went to Bangkok three times in 2006. However, many temples had been transformed into tourist spots, and she couldn't find a satisfactory answer. When she happened to take a look at street life though, she saw scenes and people that made her feel as though she were in Japan. She became aware that despite the two hours' time difference, Thailand is an Asian country as is Japan, and that they must share a common memory. These photographs were taken when the artist started paying attention to these common memories and feelings, and are a message to her grandfather, parents and friends. 30 black and white photographs will be on display.
