Sakan Kanno "Trans."

At Radi-um
Media: Painting, Art Party
Sakan Kanno (b. 1970) is known for his finely detailed abstract drawings on urethane canvas. He produces numerous drawings every day to practice, and also to evolve. The freely use of line can be attributed to his background as a jazz bass player. He does not under paint or pre-skecth his work, and imbues it with skillful improvisation learned from jazz as well as his own philosophy of creation. The microscopic strokes builds up into a single whole, embedded perfectly with the illuminating background.
For the first time in Japan, this exhibition features works with black background. The blackness reminds one of lacquer paint, emphasizing the depth and the physicality of the lines even more than the red or white backgrounds that he has used before.

The Haphazard versus the Delicate: Two Painters exhibiting in Roppongi
“Variety is the spice of life.” Often times, people use this phrase as an excuse for changing jobs or even more commonly their boyfriend/girlfriend. Who can blame them?
