In the Edo period, people had more excitement during Oshigatsu, the Japanese New Year's holidays. Houses were decorated with objects that bring good luck, everyone dressed up in nice kimonos, and children played with kites and Hanetsuki (badminton-like game). In addition to these classic Oshigatsu scenes, winter landscape Ukiyoes capturing year end scenes from the Edo period are on view in this exhibition.
