Satoshi Uchiumi + Hitomi Iwano "Paintings of Nae-iro"
This event has ended.
At Yokohama Bayquarter Gallery Box
Media: Painting
This exhibition features two artists, Satoshi Uchiumi, who creates paintings by layering countless circles in different colors, and Hitomi Iwano, who applies a traditional method called "Kimekomi" to construct a surface covered with cloth by tucking in a piece of cloth to a chiseled supporting material. In both of their works, there is a significant layering and application of Japanese traditional colors, which is relevant to the colors seen in nature around this time of year.
(Nae-iro is one of "12 colors", which are the symbolic set of colors developed in the Heian period. Nae-iro represents a summer season. )
