Many staff members are involved in Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography's diverse operations. Specialty researchers, librarians, preservation specialists, preservation science researchers are involved in putting up exhibitions, collecting and archiving works on film and running educational outreach programs and the library. The "Curator's Choice 07" exhibition features a collection of works selected by these specialized staff members based on the theme of "Conversing Museum." From their unique viewpoints that they have developed through their daily work and research, the specialists have arranged an exhibition of exceptional and unusual works that focuses on the conversations between artists and their work, and even more importantly, between museums and viewers.

ある意味、真剣勝負ですよね。ごく限られたスペースで、自分と写真に関するもろもろを、自分ひとりの責任で開陳することになる。しかも、まわりは、みんなライヴァル。

この「キュレーターズ・チョイス」はより多くの人々を美術館にいざなうことを目的とした、いわば入門者向けの展示企画という色彩もあり、そのため総花的というかいささか散漫な部分もなくはない。だが、トリミングやプリントの違いによって作品の印象が大きく異なることや、オリジナルとオマージュというかエピゴーネンを並べて展示したコーナーなどは、ある意味で写真ならではの楽しみをストレートに紹介しており、その部分をきっちりと押さえたところは高く評価したいと思った。
