Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-78) was born near Venice, Italy, and flourished as a printmaker in Rome. Also working actively as architect and archaeologist, Piranesi brought colossal ancient monuments and the popular sites of Rome to life on paper with the use of copper engraving. On display at this exhibition are a total of 200 Piranesi prints and books about the artist, whose heart wandered and drifted all the way out to ancient Egypt, Rome, Asia, and even unknown cities.
