Open Price Exhibition 2008/ Furniture that Reduces CO2
This event has ended.

With the Lake Toya Summit being held this year, awareness of environmental problems is increasing. The Open Price exhibition 2008 includes proposals for recycling and sustainable design by gathering a group of designers and workshops with a deep concern for methods and techniques that promote sustainability. The recycled works on display were created in response to the IPCC "Kyoto Mechanism" that aims at the reduction of CO2 emissions.
The Clean Development Mechanism turns waste materials into usable resources. Isamu Kenmochi's visit to America in 1952 included a stop at the Eames studio, which inspired a collaboration with Kotobuki Inc. The result was a classic in the annals of design history - the FRP chair. This exhibition looks back at 50 years of such materials and aims at a reassessment of their value. 17 participating groups will exhibit their novel design proposals for the reduction of CO2, of garbage, and of productive energy.
