The Ueno Royal Museum painting competition started in Showa 58 (1983), with the aim to discover unique up-and-coming artists. A total of 1320 works by 873 artists were submitted for this year's competition, and 281 works and 6 prize winning works were selected. This exhibition presents the works by prize winners and a few finalists.
