The 30th anniversary summer holiday exhibition for children is all about animals and salt. Animals and humans need salt to maintain their life. The way to take in salt or the quantity of salt they need, however, vary depending on how and where they live and what they live on. The animals that live in a zoo are also fed the right amount of salt. This year’s special summer exhibition brings on a virtual zoo into the exhibition room so that the children can "interview" lions, elephants, giraffes, sea turtles, pigeons, and penguins and learn the secrets of their salt consumption--"How do the grazing animals take in salt?", "Don’t the animals in the sea take too much salt?" Children can also know how much salt they have in their bodies by using the special salt-scale weighing machine.
During the exhibition period, there are scientific demonstrations by instructors, kid’s workshops for simple experiments featuring salt, special lecture series on salt by guest lecturers and museum staff, the computerized Q&A corner, and also free Mexican solar evaporated salt crystals to take home. Tons of ideas for your kid’s summer project!!
