On view are works from two print collections: "52 Records" (published in 1995, a total of 52 works) and "Six Stops" (published in 1993, a total of 6 works) by Isamu Wakabayashi, a copperplate engraving artist who makes direct incisions on copper plates with a burin knife.
Wakabayashi is a consummate draughtsman and devotes himself daily to a drawing routine. His talent for drawing is also visible in his print works. In particular, the burin-engraved works can be considered "diary-like records" of the artist, whose lifelong theme has been "cogitations toward space". This exhibition introduces all the works from "52 Records" at once, giving viewers the opportunity to appreciate them as an unbroken series.
