"Masterpieces of Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen: The Beginning of the 20th Century - Times of Picasso and Klee" Exhibition
This event has ended.
The Kunstsammlung (Art Collection) Nordrhein-Westfalen in Düsseldorf, Germany, moved to its present location in 1986. Its highly prized collection of 20th century art is housed in a building known affectionately as "K20". The core of the collection consists of some 100 mature works by Paul Klee, but it also contains paintings by the other giants who were active at the beginning of the previous century, such as Picasso, Matisse, Chagall and Braque. In addition, it has extensive holdings of surrealists like Magritte and Ernst, or artists like Miró, without whom any discussion of art in the first half of the 20th century would be meaningless. With so many masterpieces by popular artists like Picasso and Klee on display in this exhibition, it becomes possible to see how the art of painting developed from the beginning to the middle of last century.

If you're attracted to Picasso you might be disappointed because, despite sharing the title with Klee, you'll find plenty of Klee here but only a little of Picasso. Regardless, there's a great range of artists and styles that are definitely worth seeing on their own.
Good point rabbitspade, if one were to only look at the ads everywhere in the Tokyo metro one could think it's equally about Picasso and Klee. Almost worth wondering if an exhibition can't be massively successful unless it is “Picasso and [who/whatever]” these days…
