In recent years, China has been experiencing the rapid economic growth and social changes, which have also largely influenced the state of art. Works created in the midst of this dramatic changes show themes and expressions that were never seen before, and more than anything else, artists became actively involved in creating something new, exploring new territories.
This exhibition presents a total of 67 oil painting, watercolor, and prints from the collection of Shanghai Art Museum. Works include early works by internationally renowned artists such as Zhang Xiaogang, Fang Lijun, Liu Xiaodong, and many more, who stand out in the course of contemporary Chinese art.
