Francoise Petrovitch creates fluid, water-based ink drawings, portraying the relationships between human bodies and the force of gravity: in feet that are in the throes of escape, in feet that fondle and toy with girls' shoes, playful, bashful feet; in surfaces on the ground that seem to be on the brink of crumbling...Petrovitch's strange, somewhat feminine world possesses a quiet and subtle charm through which one may glimpse the evolution of women as they shift from one stage or phase to another. The old, raggedy dolls in her drawings seem to link "womanhood" to the "girlhood" that used to be a part of Petrovitch herself.
