Shoichi Kabashima Exhibition
Closes in 31 days
At Yayoi Museum
Media: Illustration, Drawing, Art Talk
Shoichi Kabashima (1888-1965) was book illustrator active around the 1920s and 1930s. His illustrations for popular magazine at the time "Shonen Club (boys' club)" excited its readers. His outstanding skill of precise description was considered more realistic than photograph, and he came to be known as "god of pen drawing". On the other hand, in 1923, Kabashima worked on manga "Sei's Adventure" that utilized balloons for the first time in Japan, generating a major boom.
Celebrating the 120th anniversary of his birth, this large-scale retrospective exhibition traces back lifelong work of Shoichi Kabashima.
