"Architectural Museums in Japan" Exhibition
This event has ended.
Architectural museums can be found all over Japan. They aim to transmit the uniqueness of local buildings, traditional and vernacular architectural traditions, and the charm of Japanese cityscapes to future generations. By dismantling historical buildings and reassembling them on their premises, these museums perform functions of preservation and carry out useful applications based on these examples of Japanese architecture. In addition, through various educational and volunteer projects and programs, these museums also hand down entire architectural cultures to posterity.
This exhibition introduces the unique points of Japanese regional architectural styles in addition to featuring various preservation plans and devices adopted by specific regions that attempt to protect and conserve buildings and landscapes.
Talks by curators are also scheduled (Japanese only). See website for details.
