Tetsuya Nagato has been active not only as an artist but also as an art director and graphic designer. This exhibition showcases his photography work.

While Nagato began taking photos in his late teens, he was unable to consider photography as a valid means for production and expression. However, once he got to know more about digital devices like computers and scanners, he gained a new perspective, realizing that everything can be valid subject matter. He then started producing photographs in which his subject matter, output and record of it are all closely related with each other. Nagato takes photos with a macro lens, for what he wants to capture is the texture and form of his subject, and because he can see both something universal and trendy through the details of his subject, rendered visible by getting close to it. His subjects range from his own collage pieces, to their production process, as well as the materials used to create them. In his photographs, two conflicting qualities coexist - unique perspective and compressed flatness.

Nagato is also holding exhibitions at Little More Chika and Super Deluxe concurrently with this exhibition. His collage work will be on view at Little More, while his digital collage pieces will be presented at Super Deluxe. Please visit the exhibition website for more details.
