Shell Art Prize Exhibition 2008
This event has ended.
The Shell Art Prize was founded in 1956, and went on to exert considerable influence on the art world. Along with the newer Showa Shell Contemporary Art Prize established during the Heisei period (1989-), the aim is to discover promising young contemporary painters (under 40). This year's Shell Art Prize 2008 attracted a historic high of 1144 artists submitting 1700 works. After a rigorous screening process, 44 works were chosen to receive awards, including two Grand Prix winners, three Jury Prize winners and 3 honorable mentions.
