This artist started studying theatrical design under the guidance of Settai Komura while enrolled at Tokyo Art School (current Tokyo Geijutsu Daigaku), and later became a kabuki stage and costume designer as well as graphic designer for Shiseido. He produced numerous "bijinga," portraits of beautiful ladies in his lifetime, incorporating a modern international aesthetic while passing on the Edo tradition. Around 400 of his life works including hand drawn bijinga portraits, original illustrations for kabuki designs, costume designs, pamphlets, newspaper and book illustrations and others will be on display.
