Kaoru Ishimoto "Public Housing Pilgrimage - Japanese Residential Architecture"
This event has ended.
At Gallery 45-8
Media: Photography, Video installation
This exhibition presents around 200 photographs taken by photographer Kaoru Ishimoto who visited public housing complexes in Japan, most of which were developed in the postwar period. From historically significant sites to those teetering on the edge of demolition, this series of photographs unravels the aging side of Japanese society.
Alongside Ishimoto's photographs, the gallery will present a video installation by Mami Fukube, whose work also deals with housing developments. Two different viewpoints on the same subject make up this exhibition.
