"Spectral Analysis" Exhibition
This event has ended.
At Motus Fort
Media: Painting, Drawing, Photography, Sculpture, Digital, Art Party
Motus Fort presents a group of emerging artists in our second exhibition entitled "Spectral Analysis". We offer a sampling from each artist for each viewer's own analysis. Our selection includes Americans and Japanese, while demonstrating common interests, no matter what their point of origin or background is. Each artist raises questions at first and then pursues their investigations, not necessarily seeking for some kind of conclusion, but rather to achieve better comprehension.
Christy Speakman uses a discontinued, sensuous, metallic paper to reproduce her cosmic oil halos; Chris Jahncke casts meteoric dust to create spatial color field; With his desire to paint with fear, Andrew Guenther employs squid ink; Travis reminds us that generations of dispossession result in natural expressions of hostility, and, instead of framing his works, he entrenches them within spiked borders; Tom Brauer cuts and folds out plans to create utopias, while Yu Yasuda, Dan Kopp, Stephanie Dodes and Tai Ogawa draw to realize inner worlds that expand under scrutiny. Satomi Shirai, Susan Lipper and Ann Waddell explore communities within the remote confines of privileged access, colluding with their subjects to form even more unexpected or hyped realities. A sculptor David Kennedy Cutler employs crushed CD fragments to cover the bark of Limband, while Kei Ogasawara, also a sculptor, creates palimpsest of used boxes as a means to meditate on ecology, storage and presentation anxiety.
Additionally, each artist selected 15 audio pieces to get viewers more closely involved with their creative process.
