People are always in search of the next new thing, fueled by their hopes and desires - in response to which various goods and products have values attached to them and then produced. Such products give shape to our environment, give expression to settings and tendencies in life and society, in addition to urging us onwards to the next desire.
Design is deeply invested in the relationship between an attitude of seeking fulfillment from things, and an environment that can be created and tailored from those products. Recently, however, distortions and contradictions have arisen from that relationship, and methods and devices to iron them out have been sought.
This exhibition focuses on "versatility" as a means of rectifying that relationship. For example, assembly and disassembly are processes related to the capacity for exchange and renewal. The process of growing attachments to these objects also shows us a means by which we can be satisfied with what we have, and how to create congenial living environments. Based on this mode of thinking, these products will be introduced with the intention of eliciting opinions and thoughts from visitors on the subject of design.
