"Visual Devices: Seeing How We See" Exhibition

Musashino Art University Museum & Library
Finished
The desire to visualize illusion, fantasy, and phantoms by controlling light is at the heart of human creativity. This desire led human beings to invent various devices and produce images, and as its result, our history, derived from the close relationship of art and technology, was carried through.
This exhibition aims to grasp the history of visual devices which evolved as a result of such desires, from various perspectives. Here, contemporary technologies or works involving new devices are not included. This exhibition focuses on the fundamental aspects of optical exploration through historical devices invented before the emergence of new technologies.
