Despite its long history and deep-rooted tradition, Japanese sumi-ink drawing saw its decline in modern times. However, it doesn't mean that artists lost their interest in the medium. Asian art in general has become more popular internationally in recent years, and a new set of conception of nihonga was born. Taking sumi-ink as a neutral material, present-day artists are producing unique works with a new angle. This exhibition features a total of selected 30 new and recent works by 11 disciplined artists who explore new possibilities of sumi-ink.
