Diesel Denim Gallery Aoyama is holding "All About Democracy", Mathias' first solo exhibition showcasing exquisite manga and illustration works he has created in the past for newspapers and magazines, as well as new pieces created for this exhibition.
Exhibition concept: All About Democracy
"The world today is corrupt, degraded, and no longer functioning. The era where political situations were depicted in a comical manner is over."
Turning his insightful gaze on prominent personalities like presidents and politicians, Mathias creates stories that reflect today's world climate in a satirical fashion. Although his work addresses current social conditions and dissatisfaction with and doubts about democracy, it also contemplates issues of poverty and environmental degradation, expressing an earnest wish for justice and a more equitable society.
