Philippe Weisbecker "Recollections"

Creation Gallery G8

Artists

Philippe Weisbecker
Starting March 30th, Creation Gallery G8 is holding an exhibition by Philippe Weisbecker, an artist and illustrator who lives between Paris, New York and Barcelona. Using nothing but paper, cardboard, pencil and a ruler, Weisbecker makes simple, memorable drawings that linger in the memory: drawings that capture the simple, unaffected beauty of anonymous objects that typically escape our attention but that continue to endure the passage of time.

On display at this exhibition are "recollections/re-collections" of these collected objects, notebooks and sheets of drawings.

Weisbecker previously held his "Simply Put" solo exhibition at Creation Gallery G8 in 2000, his first show in Japan, winning rave reviews from professional designers and illustrators as well as the design media. Subsequently, he spent four months as an artist-in-residence at the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto, after which he published his "Hand Tools" collection of works. Weisbecker has also exhibited his work at Book Cellar Amus in Osaka, Gallery Coco in Kyoto and Rocket in Tokyo. Recently he has had work commissioned by Suntory, Toraya and Mitsukoshi.
