"No man is an island." In contemporary society, however, the relationships that we depend on to live tend to be fairly shallow. Some people may even unconsciously seek out these sorts of relationships: people who live solitary lives while wishing secretly for companionship, or else those who keep shunning company while experiencing loneliness.
