"Safetection" is a combination of "safety" and "protection." This exhibition features works by furniture craftsman Shigeki Matsuoka, who pursues an ideal of "making things" based on safe consumption, conserving forests and the revitalization of industries. Visitors will learn more about the process through which a single log becomes material for furniture, and onsite conditions where furniture is made. On display are chairs, tables, chests and other "safetection" furniture designed and manufactured from the perspective of local production for local consumption, reuse of old materials and long-life design.
