Yasuhiro Ishimoto
Yasuhiro Ishimoto is a prominent photographer both in Japan and abroad. Among the wide variety of works he has created throughout his long career, he has produced a multi-exposure color photograph series every winter for half a century as his life's work. Part of the series was published last year as a photo book entitled "Composition".

Ishimoto produces multi-exposure color photographs by first shooting the silhouettes of naked trees and buildings with a 6x6 camera and then layering colors on them. His works have adorned the covers of Takenaka Corporation's quarterly PR magazine "Approach" since 1973. When a film frame is exposed multiple times, unexpected colors and forms emerge. "Unlike operating in a darkroom, this way of developing a film relies heavily on an element of chance. That's the appeal of photography to me," says Ishimoto. With this unique production method, his work transcends its genre and reached the heights of modern art.

With the support of the Museum of Art, Kochi, this exhibition showcases over 50 photographs from the series. This is a great opportunity to experience this dazzling creation by a singular photographer.
