This festival features works and installations by more than 77 groups of artists from 16 countries, including Pipilotti Rist, Masahiko Sato, Lieko Shiga, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Masanori Tominaga and more. Also scheduled are several talk shows with selected artists as invited guests.

ヨコハマ国際映像祭2009 CREAM - Creativity for Arts and Media -

自宅で様々な映像が観れるのに、出かけても観たい”映像”とは…

インドネシアの影絵に出迎えられ、映像の原点は光源と遮蔽物、それを受け取る網膜の知覚作用で、影絵も映像だということに自ら気付く。

あるカメラマンの人生を回顧し私達に問いかけたアルフレッド・ジャーの作品や、国内初出品となるパブロ・ヴァルブエナの、まるでワイヤーフレームで制御する３Ｄソフトウェアのモニター画面を見ているかのような、構造物を拡張してみせるインスタレーション。

一方ではアウトラインをなぞり現象を表象していく。もう一方は一行のテキストで思いを巡らされる痛烈な散文詩を使った作品なのだが、両作品とも対象的なアプローチで、知覚の奥底に感情の生成を感じさせた。このほかにも、何が起こるわけでもなく淡々とした映像が流れるベルギー出身のシャンタル･アケルマンの作品もある種の恐さを感じさせる作品。

これらの作品を見たあと、人の集合体や動かぬ風景が新鮮で、大切な瞬間のように思える不思議な体験であった。
