This event has ended.

The theme of this exhibition is “meeting” and “making conversation.”What is common among the five artists introduced in this exhibition is their attitude toward art; they are not trying to submit an answer through their works. Rather, they unhesitatingly show the process of trial and error. In front of the works which originate from keen observations in everyday experiences, the audience go through the same process as the artists did, and will come across as many and various questions as the artists had through their creations.

The title “5+1” simply means “five artists and each one of the audience" - an acknowledgement that engagement by the audience is as important as that of the artists and their works. One may feel a strong feeling of repulsion towards the “answers” that come to mind while looking at the works. But that is the key experience both for the artists and audience, each of whom has a unique personality, to reach a mutual understanding. More than that, to exchange different interpretations is a chance to expands one’s own way of thinking. We hope that at the exhibition each of us will go even beyond this “junction boxlike” experience where one collides with each other and finds a hint for coexistence.
