"Life and Art - Arts & Crafts Exhibition"
This event has ended.
Introducing the Arts and Crafts movement which originated and led by William Morris in England in the late 19th century, this exhibition presents beautiful works created at studios in Europe including the notable Vienna Workshop, and masterpieces created during the craft movement in Japan.
This exhibition was made possible by the collaboration of the Victoria & Albert museum in London, which holds magnificent collections of decorative art. A total of 280 pieces of furniture, tableware, textiles, garments, books and graphic designs are on display. The highlight of this show is a recreation of the house “Mikuni Sou,” which Soetsu Yanagi and his peers built in Showa era. Inside the house, Yanagi’s collection, and works of Shoji Hamada, Kanjiro Kawai and Tatsuaki Kuroda are showcased.
