The black and white photography series "Flow and Fusion" shot using a slow shutter speed on the streets of Tokyo in the 1990s later became the point of departure for Kitano's "Our Face" and "One Day". "Flow and Fusion" was finally published in book form in November 2009. These images capture 1990s Japan through unprecedented episodes and incidents like the collapse of the Bubble economy, the great Kobe earthquake and the subway Sarin gas attack.
