Hideo Oguma Exhibition II
This event has ended.
At Morikazu Kumagai Museum
Media: Painting
Hideo Oguma was born in 1901 in Otaru, Hokkaido. After working at the Asahikawa Shimbun newspaper company he moved to Tokyo in 1928, changing his residence several times and living in the old Nagasaki and Ikebukuro neighborhoods in Toshima Ward, pouring his energy into writing poetry and essays as well as painting. During this time he developed close relationships with other artists who were living in what came to be called "Ikebukuro Montparnasse", a neighborhood of artist's studios and workshops. This is the second of a two-part exhibition of Oguma's finest paintings that includes several new pieces acquired by the museum this year.
