Masayoshi Aigasa was born in Nihonbashi, Tokyo in 1939. He graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1962 and spent the 1960s producing prints and collages.

In 1970 he started oil painting once again and began to produce a series of works in which he builds a unique world of irony and humor through the realistic portrayal of casual scenes of everyday life set in train stations, zoos, city streets, museums, parks, and other metropolitan places where people gather.

From that point on, everyday life became a theme in his work, and he continued to produce motifs of the many kinds of people living in modern society, taking up scenes of families, children, overseas street corners and tourist attractions with an unmatched attention to detail and thorough dedication to realism.

This exhibition introduces the paintings of Masayoshi Aigasa, and features approximately 70 pieces with a focus on his award-winning works.
