Tatsuo Miyajima launched his career as an artist in the field of performance art, and began creating and exhibiting his digital counter works using LEDs in the mid 1980s. He has enjoyed a prominent international reputation since his participation in the 1988 Venice Biennale, and is currently one of Japan's most active contemporary artists on a global scale.

This exhibition is being held to mark the publication of a book that details Miyajima's practice over the last 30 years, featuring a selection of works that attempt to trace shifts in his artistic position and ideology over time - documentary photography, drawings and other archival materials.
