Ofuji Noburo (1900-1961) started his career in the 1920s with paper-cutting animation films made using “chiyogami,” the colorfully patterned paper produced in Tokyo. In the post-war period, Ofuji created colorful animation films by freely utilizing shadow pictures and color cellophane, gaining international critical recognition. This exhibition will showcase Ofuji’s original techniques and artistic expressions through reference materials in the Ofuji collection that were donated to the NFC.
