Seiji Togo "In Praise of Women: Modern Boys from the Taisho through Showa Periods"
This event has ended.
At Hachioji Yume Art Museum
Media: Painting
Showcases the work of artist Seiji Togo, a painter active during the Taisho and Showa periods. His portraits of women are notable for their soft, flowing lines and sober palette, and established him as a major postwar Western-style painter whose strength lay in his Romantic style. Togo thoroughly absorbed the latest trends in avant-garde European art starting in the 1910s, establishing a unique style whose elegance and approachability transcended the avant-garde theory and rhetoric.
This exhibition features 48 portraits of women from the collection of Sompo Japan Insurance's Seiji Togo Museum.
