"Paintings from the Joseon Dynasty" Exhibition
Japan Folk-Craft Museum
This event has ended.
Paintings from the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1897) include both works by royal court painters and "folk paintings" on folding screens done by anonymous artists who often depicted flower and bird motifs using placid, calm brushstrokes. This exhibition showcases some 100 works centering on Korean folk paintings from the 19th century drawn from Soetsu Yanagi's personal collection. Works will be changed during the exhibition period (first half: September 13th-October 16th, second half: October 18th-November 23rd).
