This event has ended.

This exhibition focuses on the work of two artists who launched their careers in Yokosuka after WWII, showcasing a whole range of their output, from their early work to their most recent pieces. Noriyuki Haraguchi (1946-) exhibited his famous oil pool work at Documenta 6 in 1977, and has since created installations using metals and mass-produced industrial materials. Kanji Wakae (1944-) started working with prints and photography before meeting Joseph Beuys while in Germany on a residency program sponsored by the Agency of Cultural Affairs - an encounter that led him to move towards sculpture and installation.

On display are works on paper by Haraguchi and installations by Wakae on the theme of modernity.
