"Berlin 2000-2011" Exhibition
This event has ended.
At Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo
Media: Painting, Installation, Video installation, Performance Art
Berlin has undergone a dramatic transformation since the destruction of the wall in 1989. The city has attracted artists from around the world with its boundless possibilities, allowing them to communicate and collaborate with each other, transcending the confines of such genres as art, music, architecture, video and more in order to give birth to unique forms of expression. This exhibition will be held to celebrate the 150th anniversary of friendly relations between Japan and Germany in 2011, and will introduce the real art scene that has become established through this diverse cultural mix since 2000.
This exhibition is part of a program of festivities commemorating the 150th anniversary of friendly relations between Germany and Japan, held with the support of the Goethe-Institut Japan.
