This event has ended.

Henri Le Sidaner (1862-1939) was an early 20th century French painter who was born on the island of Mauritius. Maintaining a certain distance from contemporary art movements like Impressionism and neo-Impressionism, Le Sidaner developed a distinctive style of his own that made use of a pale, subdued palette to depict a range of pastoral and natural subjects like light leaking from a window at dusk, roses, forests, garden tables and benches.

Organized with the support of Yann Farinaux-Le Sidaner, the artist's great-grandson and a prominent art historian, this exhibition showcases some 70 oil paintings, drawings and other works that offer Japanese audiences the first comprehensive survey of Le Sidaner in this country.
