Arata Isozaki “Solaris”
This event has ended.
ICC welcomes back architect Arata Isozaki, who directed its opening exhibition, “The Mirage City— Another Utopia” in 1997. Going beyond the urban design and architectural theories of the past, “Solaris” provides a platform for thinking about new kinds of cities. While tracing the transformations in Isozaki’s urban planning from 1960 through today, it also presents works in progress that are changing with the input of multiple collaborators. The centerpiece of the show is Isozaki’s latest project, the Zhengzhou City Plan, which is currently underway in China and was featured in the 2012 exhibition “Run After Deer!” at the Venice Architectural Biennale. During the exhibition period, media artists will hold urban festivals and, forming a kind of “city-shaping apparatus,” participants will search for new images of cities in the high-speed information age in workshops and discussions.
