"Shiseido Art Egg: Tsuyoshi Hisakado" Exhibition
This event has ended.
For over ninety years since it opened in 1919, the Shiseido Gallery has been promoting Shiseido's corporate ideal of "discovering and creating new value". Among the Gallery's activities is the "shiseido art egg", a program that opens its doors to promising new artistic talents and offers them a place to present their creativity in public exhibitions.
For this year's 7th shiseido art egg, the Shiseido Gallery received 293 applications from all over Japan.
Tsuyoshi Hisakado creates installation works using sound and light. For this exhibition he creates two completely different spaces―representing a house in the larger gallery, and an office in the smaller gallery―imbuing objects like a water well and a trash can with various lighting effects, and including sound effects like the sound of a girl's murmur and the roar of an airplane. The effect is like watching a single scene in a film in which there are no people present, and through the technique of repeating the same effects at defined intervals we are made aware of subtle changes occurring in the repetition of days and the beauty inherent in chance and coincidence.
