Ettore Sottsass

This is the fourth exhibition in the Musashino Art University and Design series addressing the core of design through works from the collection. The central figure in this exhibition is the Italian designer and architect Ettore Sottsass (1917-2007), whose work is introduced through 27 lighting fixtures first presented in 1990. The show also brings his practice into context through provocative design movements such as the Memphis collective, which gave rise to Sottsass’s avant-garde designs from the 1980s on.
