Norio Nakamura
Norio Nakamura’s design work stands out with its simplicity and clarity, characterized by flat forms and color surfaces. While working at Sony Music Entertainment (1990-1997), Nakamura debuted with a series of “Maywa Denki” graphics, creating quite a stir in the design world. Since this auspicious beginning, he has maintained his stance as a unique graphic designer, exemplified by the “I.Q.” video game he created for PlayStation, his “Tetopetenson” film for NHK, his editorial design for the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation’s concept book, and his “Measuring: This much, That much, How much?” exhibition at 21_21 Design Sight. Nakamura’s first ever children’s picture book, “Dottoko Zoo”, recently received an Honorable Mention from the Bologna Ragazzi Award in Italy. As a highly-acclaimed creator of outstanding picture books, Nakamura brings the fun and enjoyment of “seeing” and “understanding” to children around the world.

In this, Nakamura’s first solo exhibition, brand new artworks will be presented alongside design works created throughout his 25-year career. This is a chance to see the unique strength of his conceptual yet nonsensical worlds.
